Historical Facts about Yurt Homes
Yurt Homes are portable circular wooden/canvas structures that have been existent in our society for over 2500 years. Earlier Mongolian Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes used to make extensive use of Yurt Homes also referred to as a "GER". Yurt Homes also date back to its use by the tribal population in Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, including certain parts of India. Originally they were manufactured from felted wood and wool, but with the help of modern technology these days Yurts are made out of high quality wood and canvas which can be recycled. The basic outline of these houses which include a dome like roof and a central ring are still the same as in pre-historic times. Marco Polo was the first Mongolian who was greatly impressed with the design and function of Yurt Homes in the 14th Century. He was completely taken aback with the simplicity and comfort, these unique structures provided. This was the turning point in the ever-growing popularity of Yurt which began from Mongolia and spread across Europe and then United states in the early 1960's.
Gradually people started noticing the multi-functional qualities of Yurt homes thereby gaining immense popularity within many different countries across the globe. Today, these houses are preferred by many for several different reasons. People have not only started using them for vacationing and camping trips but also as a temporary living arrangement in new locations. Yurt Homes have always been extremely durable against any form of external climatic conditions like rains, string winds, heat and cold. This was precisely the reason why this form of shelter has maintained its importance even thousands of years after its origin.
A Yurt was originally built in a traditional Mongolian or Turkic style, but these days one can find them in a variety of luxurious designs and appearance. The best part about all yurt homes is the fact that their basic outline is extremely adaptable to an extent that, it can be easily developed in any kind of geographical location. Earlier simple and light weight materials/fabrics were used for their creation, but these days yurt manufacturers have come up with a range of innovative ideas to produce a unique accommodation which is resistant to all climates, gives extra comfort and living space and at the same time does not harm the environment in any way. More and more people are considering yurt homes due to the spiritual peace and tranquility attached to it. The fact that yurt homes are built in the simplest manner, these houses have always been believed to emit positive energy since olden times.
